Approval to run into Uluru

(Perth, Western Australia)

We are planning to run from Alice Springs to Uluru in May (finishing at the base of Uluru).

Uluru being on Aboriginal land, would we need to submit a request to do this with the Aboriginal community and if so who would we need to send this to?

Uluru National Park

Hi Jo,
Uluru is in Uluru Kata Tjuta National Park and to enter it you buy a pass at the entry gate. There is no problem with access or it being on Aboriginal Land. There are thousands of people walking up to and around the base every day.

What you will probably need permission for is to run on the roads since there is a lot of traffic, coaches, tour buses, private vehicles. Think about those logistics. That's more important.

I dare say the national park management would want to know that you're coming...

(That also has the benefit that they can open the gate for you and let you run through.)

Here is the official site. Contact them, shoot them an email or give them a buzz to see what they say. They'll put you in touch with the right people.
