Kakadu Accommodation - Finding The Best Deals

Before I list the different Kakadu resorts and hotels I want to explain how you can quickly search the web for the best deals available. It will save you both time and money!

It is a search tool. It searches the 30 biggest accommodation booking sites on the web and brings back all the prices for you, so you can make sure you get the best deal available.

There's always someone offering a special deal somewhere! And this tool finds it for you.

When I first found this and started using it I did some testing myself. I compared the prices I found to the prices that the Kakadu hotels offer on their own websites (for the same room and dates, of course).

This tool always brought back at least the same, but usually a better offer. (Over 20% cheaper!)

If you click on the individual hotels you are shown all prices for that hotel from all booking sites. You can also view more details, photos, a map, traveller reviews and more. And if you click on the best rate, THEN you get taken to the booking site that offers that special deal, so you can lock in that rate while it is still available!

Aurora Kakadu Resort
At the Aurora resort you can get motel rooms, powered and unpowered caravan sites and campsites.. The swimming pool is for guests only. It also has a restaurant (overlooking the wetlands), cafe and store.
The Aurora Resort sometimes offers some really excellent package deals in the off season. The draw back of this resort is that it is located the furthest from the main Kakadu attractions. (It is 212 km from Darwin and 42 km from Jabiru.)
Gagudju Crocodile Holiday Inn
The crocodile shaped building of the Holiday Inn complex is the most famous Kakadu hotel. It is in a central location in the Jabiru township (only a few kilometres from the airport) and offers hotel rooms, restaurants, a pool for guests and a gift shop. Their main desk also takes bookings for commercial tours.
Kakadu Lodge
The Kakady Lodge is situated at the edge of the Jabiru township, so if you don't have transport it's a bit of a walk to the shops. But other than that it's an acceptable, clean, no frills roof over our head!
It offers budget accommodation, cabins, powered caravan sites, camping, barbecue facilities and campers kitchen. The pool is for guests only, the bar/bistro can be used by guests and visitors.
Lakeview Park YHA
Bush bungalows, cabins and airconditioned rooms, also located in Jabiru
Kakadu Hostel
The Kakadu Hostel is locateded near the East Alligator River on the border of Kakadu and Arnhem Land.
Budget double, twin share and dormitory accommodation. Full kitchen and barbecue facilities. Pool for guests.

Gagudju Lodge Cooinda
The Cooinda Lodge is located right next to Yellow Waters, one of the tourist hot spots in Kakadu. It has all the essentials, like a basic store and a service station. Obviously this is quite a busy loation during the main trourist season.
The complex includes motel rooms, budget accommodation, powered van sites and camping. Also offers a pool, restaurant, bistro and store.
Cooinda-Yellow Waters YHA
The YHA hostel is part of the Gagudju Lodge (see above).
Wirnwirnmila Mary River Road House
Just outside the southern entrance to Kakadu, the roadhouse offers motel rooms, backpacker accommodation, powered caravan sites and camping. Serves meals, morning and after noon snacks, take away food, includes a store.
